From Cast-off to Masterpiece
The oak cask was made in Stuttgart more than a hundred years ago. When it was about to be discarded it was purchased and transported to Virginia to become the canvas for a carved masterpiece.
Details
The cask end is made from oak more than 2 inches thick. It weighs about 350 pounds. The relief carving and painting required about one year to accomplish.
